How Verification Works

Every candidate on CraftHire earns a Verified badge before employers can see them. Here's exactly what that means.

For Tradespeople

01

Create your free profile

Name, trade, location, years of experience. Takes 3 minutes. Always free.

02

Upload your license or certification

Journeyman card, master license, EPA 608, AWS certification, OSHA card — whatever is relevant to your trade. We accept PDF, JPG, and PNG. Trades that don't require state licensing can upload equivalent credentials (certifications, union cards, employer letters).

03

Answer 3 quick trade questions

Confirm you're actively looking for work, currently licensed to work in your state, and willing to undergo a background check if requested by an employer.

04

We review within 24 hours

A real person reviews your submission — not an algorithm. We review that the submitted credential appears consistent with the trade and experience claimed.

05

Get your Verified badge*

Once approved, your profile shows the ✓ Verified badge. Employers on CraftHire see only verified candidates — you're now visible to every contractor posting in your area.

For Employers

When you post a job on CraftHire, only verified candidates can apply. That means every application you receive is from someone who has:

  • ✓ Uploaded their license or trade certification
  • ✓ Had their credentials reviewed by a real person
  • ✓ Confirmed they are actively looking for work
  • ✓ Confirmed they are currently licensed in their state

You see the candidate's name, trade, location, years of experience, and Verified badge before you decide to contact them. No blind résumé sorting. No guessing who's real.

Common Questions

What if my trade doesn't require a state license?

Some trades — like certain types of welding, carpentry, or general construction labor — don't have state licensing requirements everywhere. In those cases, we accept equivalent credentials: AWS certifications, union cards, OSHA certifications, or employer reference letters. We review each case individually.

How long does verification take?

We review most submissions within 24 hours. You'll receive an email when your Verified badge is live.

What if my license is from a different state?

Upload it. We'll note it on your profile. Many employers hire across state lines or for workers willing to relocate. Being transparent about your credentials is always better than omitting them.

Can an employer see my personal information before I apply?

No. Employers see your trade, experience level, location, and Verified badge. Your contact information is only shared when you apply to a specific job.

What does CraftHire do with my uploaded documents?

Your license or certification is stored securely and only used for verification purposes. We don't share it with employers or third parties.
